Don’t Fear the Internet
Don’t Fear the Internet is a place to go through a series of video based web tutorials for those that want to learn web design but are afraid of (what can be) evil HTML, CSS and PHP syntax. For any new budding designer, these languages can offer a steep learning curve and frustrations comparable to learning any real-world language. But now, two graphic designers (Jessica Hische and Russ Maschmeyer) are releasing a series of videos that go through the motions of basic web design without having to become a full-blown web designer.
The videos come across in a more DIY style, then the monotonous tutorials found online. The content in the video’s are super easy to follow, bright, easily readable and clear as day on how to perform the tasks reviewed in the tutorial. Jessica and Russ do an incredible job in explaining the structure of code and how it is developed in a way that is like you’re listening to a considerate friend hand-holding you through the basics. They take code and use it in an analogy, specifically food. By giving code an easy to understand meaning, the videos truly take the fear out of doing the work and make it fun and easier to understand.

The video series is really for people that are similar to the creators – creative types that are looking for ways to understand how to apply design online through real-world analogies.
