In a few sentences, tell us what your startup is all about!
Evolution 2 (E2) is a behavior optimization tool that enables users to make significant improvements in their lives through defining, acquiring, and tracking habits using proven methods, like cognitive behavioral therapy and Seinfeld’s “Don’t break the chain.”, to provide guided diagnoses of roadblocks. Further effectiveness is enabled through data visualization tools that identify “domino habits”, optional coaching from subject matter experts, sharing among friends and colleagues for accountability, and helpful links to actionable resources.
It can be used to build habits by individuals for personal health (meditation, sleep, exercise), or productivity (focus, attention to detail, effective conversations), and by team members within an organization in order to implement daily improvement based on performance metrics and firm goals.

Why did you choose this particular idea and concept to build your startup on?
We initially developed E2 as a means to track different work streams across our management consulting team. Back then, we would be working on such a wide variety of projects at a given time that deadlines were constantly being missed, meetings pushed, and lots of tasks would go incomplete or unassigned.
In order to hold ourselves accountable, we started making checklists of best practices that we’d all check in on daily; these habits would be things like “respond to all inbound messages within 24 hours”, “provide updates on all incomplete tasks”, “acknowledge and set deadlines for new to-dos”, etc. After some time, as we’d ingrained more and more habits, we added personal goal-supporting habits to our lists – I added things like “exercise for 30 mins daily” and “meditate for 20 mins twice a day”.
Eventually we started sharing our system of habit building with friends who’d asked us for access to our spreadsheet so they could track their own progress toward personal and professional goals. After a while, we’d added so much functionality to the spreadsheet that it was starting to run slowly and would only support a handful of habits which made the process of adding new ones a serious pain. At that point, we decided to develop the web-based version of E2 that we’re sharing with you today.
Do you have any customer feedback on your product and/or service that you could share?
“Prior to discovering Evolution-2, I was using seven different tools to track my habit performance across the aspects of my life that I iteratively improve through continuous measurement: weightlifting, running, diet, productivity, studying, reading, and mindfulness.
Working with this many separate applications was a time-consuming and cumbersome element of my morning routine, increasing the probability that I’d “fall off the wagon” intermittently.
In addition to dramatically simplifying my habit-evaluation process and therefore keeping me on track (I have a 100% daily-evaluation completion rate over the past six months), Evo-2 provides several other key benefits I can’t now imagine being without.
