Percolate

Percolate

Percolate is a brand new platform that combines your RSS feeds with your Twitter friends’ links to bring you the most relevant and useful information to the forefront. Founded by Noah Brier and James Gross (@percolate), Percolate bubbles up the most interesting stuff from your own world to comment on and create new content.

According to Noah (via the Percolate Blog):

The way we see it, blogging was supposed to change the world and never quite did. It was amazing and we still love it, but most of those people who started blogs eight years ago fell off, intimidated by the big blank box they faced in the morning. Twitter’s big innovation was to shrink the box, making it less scary to create content on the web. With Percolate we’re trying to take the box away (metaphorically of course), starting the publishing process with a piece of relevant content for a user to react to. We think it works and hope you do too.

Currently in “double secret alpha” phase, Percolate curates interesting content for you to write about. The services scours your RSS and Twitter feeds, looks through the sites people are linking to and runs them through their custom algorithm filter and brews up the content that will be of most interest to you. The site then encourages you to comment on stories that percolate on your own dashboard. Your dashboard comprises of “Your Brew” and “Your Filter”. The Your Brew section is made up of links that come through other people’s brews and algorithms along with their comments. While “Your Feed” is what is percolating up from the friends you follow on Twitter and the results are based on your personal settings.
