In a few sentences, tell us what your startup is all about!
Hot Drops is a fashion discovery platform that provides every user with a personalized daily edit of fashion recommendations from the latest collections.
Users also have the option to search for specific fashion items (e.g. skinny jeans or white sandals), with all results tailored to their style preferences. This makes it easy for a user to see what’s in stock in their size from multiple online stores in one quick search. Users can then shop the item, add it to their Wishlist or create a sale alert to be notified if it drops in price.
Alongside fashion products, the platform gives users personalized content suggestions (such as How To Wear Guides and Trend News) that are relevant to their style.
For example, if we’ve identified that a male user generally has a smart dress code, they’re more likely to see editorial content about how to get the perfect shirt fit or tips on wearing a pocket square, than another user who has a relaxed casual style.
When was your startup founded? And what stage is your startup currently at?:
We went live in 2016 and are now out of beta.
Let us know a bit about your team, who are the key team members and what is their role?:
Chris Perrett, CEO
If applicable, what is your growth like? And what milestones has your startup achieved so far?:
Since 2016 we’ve grown the platform to include over 2,500 fashion brands and are now trialing a supplementary chatbot on Messenger (which has achieved an average feedback rating of 4.7/5). We’re constantly looking for new ways to make it easier for users to find fashion that matches their style and believe our platform saves users a lot of time while guiding them with their style choices.
Why did you choose this particular idea and concept to build your start-up on?:
The online fashion market has seen a meteoric rise over the last 5 years and this has led to more choice than ever for consumers. I often found myself having the same user journey of going to a website, finding a product I liked and then discovering it was out of stock in my size. If I did a search on the website, I’d have to hit multiple filters to narrow down the results to find something suitable.
I was regularly frustrated by this and from my previous work at a startup that provided users with personalizedM offers; I thought the experience could be improved. I also found editorial content was often generic and in no way tailored to my style (which was echoed by friends), so I wanted to place a large focus on the content side in order for us to help users with style advice and tips that are actually relevant to them.
We then spent over 9 months developing the platform, including an in-house insights suite so we can make changes in real-time to improve the UX as well as identifying shifts in trends and popularity of certain brands.
Are you looking for funding or are you open to partnership opportunities, and if so, what’s the best way for people to get in contact with you?:
