Lucky Ant: Crowdfunding For Local Businesses
Lucky Ant is a Kickstarter for businesses in your local area. If you wanted to support local growth and didn’t know how to help your neighborhood market, other then purchasing locally, then you should checkout Lucky Ant – a crowdfunding site that lets you fund local businesses to grow.
Because no “Ant” works alone, Lucky Ant helps mom and pop retailers raise funds for improvement projects by turning to their community for help. With the failing economy, small shops are struggling even more than ever to compete with big box retailers, and the dreams of small business owners are being suffocated because they have to compromise due to budget constraints. By looking to the internet, customers can help their favorite neighborhood shop realize their dreams.
Every week Luck Ant will showcase a project from a business in your neighborhood that needs to be funded. And just like Kickstarter, if you see a project you support, you can chop in to help them reach their goal to complete the project. If they don’t meet their goals, then you are refunded your money. For chipping in, you get perks from the business that you invested in and the satisfaction that you’re helping your neighborhood small business owner reach their dreams and you will have grown your own neighborhood.
The site is currently only active in downtown New York, for now, and is helping reinvigorate local businesses with cash from the community. But what makes Lucky Ant better then the other project funding sites is: firstly, they don’t showcase non-special personal projects, but want you to focus on helping the little diner that is around the corner instead. Secondly, the site is less about funding but more about social change. The website’s premise is about helping community and growing your neighborhood – A much brighter idea than just helping fund a personal project.
Right now there is only one project on the site, but for them to grow they need other “Ants” to add their projects and New York users to go to the site more often. Hopefully Lucky Ant can grow, so they can help other local businesses grow as well.
