We all want to “do good”, but sometimes people need a little incentive to participate in a worth while cause. The Mutual is a social platform that provides deals and discounts to use at shops and restaurants for charitable donations. Dubbed the “Groupon for Good” members pay a small fee of $10 / month to view discount opportunities. From the fee 80% goes to a charity, and 20% remains with The Mutual for business growth, administration and day-to-day operations.
The Mutual has found a very promising way to provide “good”, benefit consumers and businesses by putting a socially-conscious benefit to the run-of-the-mill daily deals site. The charities currently partnered with the organization include Oceana, World Resources Institute, The Trust for Public Land, Carbonfund.org and Center for Ecoliteracy.
