Oivo uses four AA batteries but is still the smallest iPhone charger ever

September 9, 2014 by New-Startups Team

Living with a drained battery half way through the day is sadly still a norm for many of our smartphone device choices. Technology advancements lead to screens big as tablets, faster processors, and oodles of storage, but battery life still remains an unsolved mystery.

There have been countless battery solutions that entail accessories, backup packs, and charging stations. From startups to the big brands the solutions to help cope with a dying battery in the worst of times are easily attainable, but few if any are as pint-sized and powerful as the Oivo.

The Slovenian startup has launched the iPhone battery saver for $39 on Kickstarter. The device uses four AA batteries to provide a source of battery relief when needed. But one might think like many of the other solutions this will be a bulky device that will be a pain to lug around. Happily it’s not!

With dimensions of 30mm wide, 36.5mm high and 22mm in depth the Oivo is so small it works as fob placed on a key ring.

The power bank, houses four AA batteries through two-halves of its shape and fits snugly in your palm, so you can continue with a charge and take a phone call at the same time. When not being used as a handheld device, the Oivo also acts as a portrait and landscape stand.

Oivo’s charge is made possible with 10 neodymium magnets that hold the two halves of the device tightly together. But don’t worry about your credit cards; the team says it’s perfectly safe even though the magnets are so strong.

The team behind Oivo also state that the device charges an iPhone as fast as any AC charger and is built to work with iPhone 5, 5s, and 5c. It also claims it’ll be workable with the upcoming “iPhone 6.” Head over to Kickstarter and grab yours while you can if you desperately need an iPhone battery saver that isn’t a brick.
