Launched in December of 2012 by housemates Scott Purcell and Frank Arthur, Man of Many is a new source for the latest and best in men’s products, gear, gadgets, technology and style. The site offers a carefully and manually curated selection range of finds for gentleman to stand out from the crowd. Sharing things not seen anywhere else for every type of man is the mission of the new website that’s updated daily with their Aussie larrikinism and style.
Similar to the hugely popular Uncrate, the duo behind Man of Many were always following similar blogs as a hobby searching for the latest in new tech and style. They decided to launch a similar web portal but with their own Australian flavor and feature more than just ‘consumer products’ but also great videos, television shows, movies and architecture. Scott tells us:
“When selecting products to feature, we focus on the story behind the product and the value it offers to the ‘everyday man’. Our aim is to feature products that will empower people to get outdoors, be active, pick up a hobby and enjoy the good times. So I guess in 2013 we hope for products that inspire… A hover board would be pretty cool too.”
Men in general prefer to shop online, it’s convenient and helps avoid the hassle of waiting in line or dealing with disgruntled teenaged employees, because all they want to do is just get in and out. According to digital performance company iProspect, by 2009, men were spending 17 per cent more than women on Internet purchases, and in the 2011 survey this has grown to 46 per cent. Luxury menswear and accessories are leading the growth trend but Man of Many hopes to help you sort through the mess and share only what matters.
Who are the men behind Man of Many?
Scott Purcell is Sydney boy, born and bred, who runs on coffee and is a sucker for ‘dad jokes’. Scott originally founded Productive Web Apps in 2011 before channeling his passion for technology into Man of Many. He’s also a sports fanatic who loves travel, music and a good beer. While it may not be the flashiest or most expensive of products, Scott’s favorite item uncovered so far is the Star Wars Moleskine Planner. Perfect for every waking day to organize to-do lists and arrange life it’s the quintessential man tool yet keeps one cool as Luke Skywalker
Frank Arthur has a professional background as a product designer and his passion for style and innovation is what motivated him to co-found Man of Many. Frank has a cougar crush on Melinda Clarke; he loves playing guitar (although admittedly poorly), has lived in 5 countries, travelled many more and loves to explore what’s happening globally. He recently purchased a DSLR camera and was excited when they discovered the Swivl Silver Edition. With so many accessories gearing up to burn a whole in your wallet, Frank says, “I love the Swivl because it’s innovative, versatile and affordable.”
