Scout: Sell with Postcards

March 9, 2016 by Tim

Let’s meet startup, Scout:

Website: http://sendwithscout.com

In a few sentences, tell us what your start-up is all about!

Connect directly with your customers by sending postcards. Companies like Munchery, Doordash, Dollar Shave Club, Target and more use postcards to drive awareness or return visits. Now you can too.

We’ll help you build a targeted list of consumers or businesses and we can even connect you with a designer too. Then you can use Scout to upload your back and front design, upload your list, and send out postcards for a buck a pop.

Want to send more than 5k? We’ll even build something custom for you so each card can be customized.

When was your startup founded? And what stage is your startup currently at?

2015

We’re a small unfunded company (just 2) based out of SF, CA and we’re really interested in helping our customers find traction.
We’re priced like a product, but provide all the services you need to help you get a mail campaign up and running.

Start up business

Who are your competitors? And what is your start-up’s competitive advantage over them?

Direct mail is a well forgotten industry, but Scout is going to change that by letting folks who’ve never experimented with direct mail easily send out thousands of postcards in just a few clicks. And, for those doing larger volumes we’ll customize each card based on your use case and the data you have (e.g. custom generated maps of customer’s roofs from space for solar panel installation or being able to use {{first_name}} across 1000s of cards… which increases conversion by 2 to 5x.)

It’s an old tired industry that’s difficult for people to experiment with and where most larger enterprises just price on cost, but we’re going to change that. Now, everyone can do direct mail and enterprises can customize mail so each consumer has a personal experience with your brand.

How does the product and/or service differ from your main competitors?

Digital is over subscribed… it’s everywhere. Digital ads. Digital marketing. Emails. Etc.
Sometimes, you just want to engage with people in the real world without notifications, and text messages, and emails.

Postcards are the way to do it and tons of modern companies, modern startups, have found amazing conversion rates with great offers, great design, and wickedly precise targeting and API postcard generation for custom experiences. We can help you do it too.

Let us know a bit about your team, who are the key team members and what is their role?

Jordan and Zach run this thing. We’ve been friends forever and have made several products (e.g. getcursive.com — instant websites for small businesses / restaurants). We create products because we love working together and we love helping our customers.
