Let’s meet Startup, Trunq:
In a few sentences, tell us what your start-up is all about!:
Trunq combines messaging and cloud storage to help transform piles of digital files into a dynamic private digital scrapbook. Users can capture or upload videos, pictures & other digital items with a quick snap. The moments are delivered to Trunqs — private digital shoeboxes of moments maintained on a timeline.
Family or friends can share things to Trunqs too. Items shared can be “trunqed” or “junked,” allowing users to curate what goes in their Trunq. With little effort, over time, Trunq users build a private “trunk” of curated digital moments that can be enjoyed anywhere.
Trunq separates the best digital items from everything else. Everyone has thousands of pictures, videos and documents stored on devices and computers, and likely have viewed thousands more on social networks. But where do people keep their favorite electronic items? Are they buried with all the random stuff? Are they deleted because of phone storage space? With Trunq, the best things easily can be set aside, privately shared, and stored personally in a fun, organized way.
One of the unique features of Trunq is that shared items can be delivered to open in Trunqs up to a year in the future. These future messages (called “Laters”) can highlight a special day or event, or be sent just for fun. Laters are delivered to Trunqs wrapped up either by being scrambled or with a cover image chosen by the sender.
Trunq is an essential product for anyone who wants to maintain a digital shoebox of the best digital items. It is a great app for teens to store their favorite videos and pictures in one secure place without using phone storage. Parents also can open Trunqs for their children and make a private digital scrapbook that family and friends can enhance over time.
We built Trunq to be a private, dynamic place for people to save their very best digital things. Most people have thousands of electronic items stored on their devices, computers and in cloud storage, and have posted thousands more items on social networks.
Despite the various places to store digital items, however, most people cannot easily locate their best digital items, i.e., the items that years ago would have been put in a shoebox for safekeeping. We built Trunq to be the special place to set aside, store privately, and easily share those best things in a fun, organized way.
Trunq users can send messages to open in recipients’ Trunqs up to a year in the future (“Laters”). Sending a Later is a great way to highlight a birthday or other special day, or just for fun. Laters messages are wrapped either by being scrambled or with a cover image that the sender selects. If accepted, the wrapped item sits in the recipients’ gallery until its appointed time to open.
When was your startup founded? And what stage is your startup currently at?:
January 1, 2015
Who are your competitors? And what is your start-up’s competitive advantage over them?:
There are a lot of places to save and share digital items. Trunq is different for a number of reasons. First, Trunq is default private. Users share only what they want to share. Second, users have complete control over their Trunq. Users accept items into their Trunq only if they want the items. Users receive notifications of new items and can either “Trunq it” or “junk it.” Users therefore can curate their Trunq gallery entirely to what they want to see. Third, you can send “Laters” on Trunq!
